Yanni is a California native with roots in the Sacramento/Bay Area and San Diego. He received his BS in Engineering Physics and MS in Applied & Engineering Physics from Stanford University. While at Stanford he joined the Laboratory for Integrated Nano-Quantum Systems (LINQS) with Amir Safavi-Naeini. It was there that he first got his hands dirty in the mesocopic world, focusing mainly on the design and fabrication of nanoscale photonic, phononic, and optomechanical systems. After five years at LINQS, Yanni moved over to the non-west coast and joined RSL where he continues to pursue his interests in vibey bosons (aka phonons) where he studies, designs, and fabricates all manners of couplings between superconducting circuits and phononic resonators (i.e. Quantum Acoustics).
Yanni’s hobbies and interests include the universe, music, hiking, nature, skateboarding, magnets, camping, surfing, and crystals.
